📝 Parent-Teacher Conference Prep Sheet

Student Name: ____________________

Meeting Date/Time: ________________

Allotted Time: (e.g., 15 mins) _______

🎯 Pre-Meeting: My “Big Three”

Before the meeting, list the three most important things you want to discuss. Send these to the teacher via email 24 hours in advance if possible.

  1. Academic: (e.g., Reading fluency, math fractions)
  2. Social/Emotional: (e.g., Making friends, focus in class)
  3. Logistical/Other: (e.g., Upcoming absence, volunteer ops)

📊 Questions to Ask the Teacher

If the conversation lulls, use these “power questions” to get high-value feedback:

  • “What is one area where [Child’s Name] has shown the most growth recently?”
  • “What does [Child’s Name] struggle with most during independent work time?”
  • “If we do one thing at home to support their learning this month, what should it be?”

⏱️ The Mid-Meeting Check

When there are 5 minutes left, transition to the wrap-up.

  • Notes/Observations: ________________________________________________
  • The “Parking Lot”: (Topics we didn’t finish that need a follow-up email)

✅ Action Plan (The “Who Does What”)

Don’t leave without knowing the next steps.

💡 Pro-Tips for the Meeting:

  • For Video Calls: Log in 3 minutes early to test your mic and camera. Ensure your background isn’t distracting.
  • The Exit: At the 15-minute mark, even if you’re mid-sentence, say: “I want to be mindful of the next parent’s time. I’ll email you about [Topic X] so we can wrap up now.”
  • The Thank You: A quick “Thank you for your time today” goes a long way.

*Although Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) is recognized and managed by many healthcare providers, especially in ADHD treatment, it is not officially listed as a diagnosis in the DSM. This lack of recognition can lead to different approaches in diagnosis and treatment within the medical and insurance industries.
