Here are common medical abbreviations for medication timing:

  1. PRN – As needed (pro re nata)
  2. QD or OD – Once daily
  3. BID – Twice daily (bis in die)
  4. TID – Three times daily (ter in die)
  5. QID – Four times daily (quater in die)
  6. QHS – Every night at bedtime
  7. AC – Before meals (ante cibum)
  8. PC – After meals (post cibum)
  9. Q4H – Every 4 hours
  10. Q6H – Every 6 hours
  11. Q8H – Every 8 hours
  12. Q12H – Every 12 hours
  13. QAM – Every morning
  14. QPM – Every evening
  15. STAT – Immediately/right away
