People with ADHD often struggle with sleep issues, whether it is difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, problems waking up, or staying awake during the day. In addition, serious sleep disorders have been shown to be common in ADHD populations. There are many reasons for this. Many aspects of ADHD also lend themselves to poor sleep hygiene, which only exacerbates ADHD symptoms. Proper assessment is essential, as well as developing ADHD-friendly interventions for sleep problems and disorders. Case examples will be discussed, including the speaker’s own experience with ADHD and sleep disorders.

In this presentation, you will learn how to:

-Identify the various sleep problems and disorders associated with ADHD
-Explain the biological, psychological and behavioral factors that make sleep a significant issue for those with ADHD
-Use ADHD-friendly strategies and interventions for sleep problems
